Reverend Roosevelt Lightsy, Jr. has served as Assistant Pastor (AP) since 1995, when
Pastor W.T. Shumake presented, and the membership ratified, that he would serve as AP, Youth
Minister and succeed Rev. Shumake as Pastor. Licensed in 1978, Ordained in 1981, Rev.Lightsy has
labored to spread the Good News of the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST in word and deed.


Since retiring from state government service after completing a stellar career in the Adult and
Juvenile Justice System, he has remained throughly invested in serving the community at large,and
the downtrodden in particular. Undeniably, he has established himself as a passionate advocate for
Youth, ex-offenders, persons/families of color, Newburg, Community Missionary Baptist Church and
the City of Louisville. Rev. Lightsy states he is honored and humbled to serve on numerous boards
and be the recipient of various awards and recognitions. Currently, he serves on the following
Boards: Restorative Justice Louisville, Juvenile Delinquency dvisoryInitiative/Disproportionate
Minority Contact, Community Educational Advisory Committee, Maryhurst Academy, and the Newburg Ministerial Association. Additionally, he is an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity
Incorporated and The National Hookup of Black Women Male Associates.


Family, is viewed as his most valued Blessing and solemn Trust! The surviving widow of the late
Mary Mason after 39 years of marriage, he is the Proud father of their two sons, Roosevelt III, and
Brian K. Lightsy. Joyfully, blessed again of GOD, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the former
DeAcquanita Masden on November 29th of 2015. With the guidance of the HOLY SPIRIT they share
parenting responsibilities of their blended family.
