Purple is the signature color for Alzheimer’s awareness because it combines the calm stability of blue with the passionate energy of red. The Alzheimer’s Association uses this blend to symbolize strength, courage, and an unrelenting fight against the disease.

Red and Blue Mix: Blue stands for the steady calm needed, while red represents the fiery passion and urgency of the medical struggle.

Strength and Support: Wearing purple shows solidarity with patients and caregivers.

Purple Flowers: Alzheimer’s uses purple flowers to represent those who have lost a loved one to the disease.

Why Purple Sunday: The Alzheimer’s Association partners with churches and faith communities to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s among the African American community – helping people access care, support, and early detection.
