January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month. Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness or vision loss in the United States. Glaucoma is caused by optic nerve damage that connects the eye to the brain. This occurs due to elevated eye pressure. Glaucoma is irreversible, but with an annual comprehensive eye examination at the age of 40, Glaucoma can be treated. Please start the new year with the necessary health screenings.
