October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This month brings awareness to increase screening and  provides support for individuals with breast cancer. 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer starts with abnormal cells in the breast that can invade the surrounding tissues or spread to other areas of the body. Early screening can lead to early treatment.
